Virtual Spa Days Are A Reality

Saturday, September 5th, 2009

Technology never fails to blow us away at the rate it develops. It seems like only yesterday that we first got TVs and music players, now everything is HD, flat screen, digital and MP4. A great deal of the newest technology we see enter the market has the intention of pounding our senses into oblivion with more intense images, louder sounds and faster movement. However, there has been a recent creation that intends make things a little quieter, remove all our stresses and even help us heal.

The virtual spa is a online computer program that aims to simulate the experience of being in a health spa. Made by a company in the UK called Heart Media, spa goes use a media headset to get surround sound and wrap around images. You can take a walk around all the facilities that the spa has to offer and even create new areas just for yourself. You can plug your own selection of relaxing music into the game and even book in for a relaxing body polish or massage if you’d like. You can enhance the feeling of having the virtual spa treatments by purchasing a vibration pad that is designed to work with the game. There are constant updates being made to the game all the time and the next activities plan to be sports like bowls and short tennis.

The people who made the game say that their tests showed that resting heart rate could be decreased up to 25% by simply playing the game for more than 20 mins. They hope to aim the product as people who suffer from stress or anxiety or who love spa days but don’t necessarily have the money to pay for them frequently. They hope that once the game takes off they will be able to start sending out actual physical skin care products to gamers so that can complete that spa experience without leaving the house

Spas Will Never Feel The Pinch According to ISPA

Saturday, September 5th, 2009

You might think that during a global recession people would be cutting back on their spa treatments. You might think that people would be caring less about what they look like right now and more about making sure they have a roof over their heads and food in their mouths. You might be surprised to learn then that the International Spa Assosication (ISPA) has suggested recently that health spa are recession proof. A seventeen percent increase in spa visitor numbers in 2008 (compared to 2007) backed this claim up quite considerably. So what is it that makes this possible?

Officials from the ISPA have said that spas will always be able to cater for the current demands of the consumers and adapt their game to match the market. This basically means that when people are happy and have a lot of disposable income, spas can offer treatments and packages marketed as things people can reward themselves with. They offer luxury manicures and indulgent body wraps, using the idea of ‘why not? You deserve it’.They cannot of course survive on this principle during a downturn however. People would not buy into the idea of treating themselves or spending money of luxuries they do not need. Spas then have to adjust the messages they are giving out.

When people are suffering from stress or financial worries the spas can offer the perfect remedy. They suggest having a full body de-stressing massage, to work away all the pains and strains of life and give you back the energy you need to go about your daily lives.  Instead of pampering facials, you can now get a energising exfoliating scrub to get rid of all that old bad skin and emerge a brand new butterfly with a fresh outlook on life and a positive attitude towards any problems you may be facing
