Key Lighting Tips For Photographers

Monday, June 15th, 2009

In this age of digital cameras, you have probably thought that you can just point and shoot and out will appear a great shot.Hold on, don’t go so fast. The honest truth is, you may have a great digital camera, but if you are clueless in what to do, you will take ugly shots.

Well, I would like to share with you some great tips on improving your digital photography skills.  These tips are coming from years of experience as a San Diego wedding photographer. These tips are all about the lighting and they will some of biggest reasons for you success in taking photographs.

First great tip in regards to lighting.  Now if you are taking shots outdoors during the day, natural sunlight provides some of the best lighting possible.  Now you are probably thinking, “that’s easy, when you are a San Diego photographer since it is always shiny there”, when in actuality really bright sunlight can cast harsh shadows.Or it will wash out the face details while the sun is overhead.

Overall, most of the shots you are going to want to take with the sun behind you. This eliminates any harsh shawows from effecting your shot from the sun. There will be some times when you want to take shots from different angles when you do try to get some shadows into the shots.

Now that we know what to do during the day shots, what if you have to take some night shots?

The trick to taking night shots is to turn off your flash.  Of course if it is pitch black you will need it, but for times when there is lighting, you want to use the lighting that is around, but you have to make sure you set your shutter speeds slower to let in enough light. Also, stay steady when you are taking your photograph or you will cause the picture to blur.Applying these couple of techniques will make a dramatic difference for those nights shots you take.

The third and final tip with using lighting to capture great photos is the golden hour. There is this time that photographers like to call the golden hour or magic hour, and that is sunrise and sunset.

These times of day you wll be able to capture great shots because you will get the more warmer and inviting colors.  You will be able to capture that golden lighting you won’t catch any other time of day.

There you go.  Probably the biggest key in taking greatshots is to make sure you take advantage of the natural lighting.  Knowing what techniques to use for different parts of the day, or just scheduling a photo shoots to capture those times of day will help you become an excellent photographer.

Must Do List For a Flooded House

Tuesday, June 9th, 2009

Water damage occurs in all types of ways.Ways such as your toilet overflowing, or your sink, or your dishwasher, or a washing machine, or worse a busted pipe. You don’t expect it to happen, but if it does, you have to take some quick steps to stop any more damage.  Eventually you will want to call a water damage cleanup company, but before they get there, do these important steps.  This is coming from years of experience as a water damage San Diego company.

First, you want to prevent the possiblity of any electrocution. You have to immediately shut off all the power to the flooded rooms. The water damage repair company should be happy to walk you through those steps.

Second, you have to stop any more water. You can do this by turning off the water source that caused the flooding.

Third, you are going to want to protect the furniture from any further damage.  Leaving furniture in water can turn something that could have been repaired into an item that will need to be replaced which will cost more money.Get them out of the flooded area as soon as you can.

Those are the things you have to do without hesitation before you even think about calling a water damage service. But once those things are done and you have called a water damage restoration company, here are some more things you need to do.

You will want to remove as much water as possible by mopping or using a large towel to soak up as much water as possible.  Remember, the longer any wall or furniture or flooring is exposed to water, the greater the damage can be including mold damage.

Next, you must wipe off all the moisture on your furniture.Once again what you are trying to do is reduce as much damage as you can

Also you have to remove any wet area rugs, or whatever else you find on the floor of the wet areas.

Finally, closet door or dresser drawers that you have the ability to open to allow air cirulation you want to do.

Doing these things will allow you to minimize as much damage as possible prior to calling the water damage repair company.   This will also minimize the costs and save you a lot of money in the long run.

Save Time and Money When Picking a Painting Contractor

Tuesday, June 9th, 2009

To most families, their home is an integral part of their lives.  Not only just for living in it, but also, family life goes on there, great times, and leisure time.

Well when the time comes when you do have to work on your home, such as doing some painting, this can be a very hard and stressful time in your life.

With that being the case, I would like to offer some advice on choosing the right painting contractor.  This advice comes from years working with homeowners and also running a San Diego painting company myself.

At first, choosing the right painting company doesn’t seem like a big deal.  But if you consider the fact that this project will cost thousands of dollars, cause an interruption in the normal day to day life in the home, and of course can result in a beautiful job you can be proud of to one that you are embarrassed to show. This is a very big decision.

So here are some tips from my experience as a painter San Diego.

First off you are going to want to get quotes from several contractors.  You aren’t just doing this for the best price. You are doing this so you will be able to get to know the company that you will be working with.Well of course, if you do get a good price that’s good, but don’t make that be your main goal.Remember, you want a great job to be done.

Second, you want to know if they have any guarantees to their work.  See if the company has a strong guarantee to your satisfaction.  This shows how confident they are in their work.

Thirdly, you will want to know how soon they will be available to start. Also, you want to start to get an idea on how fast they think they can get it done. When you have to cause a disruption to your life, like having to paint your house. You will have to know
how quickly they can get things back to normal.

Finally, get references of previous customers.Contact them as soon as possible to see how they felt about the work of the company.See how well they did the job, if they did it on time, and if they are a good company to work with.

Do this things and you will ensure a stress free and pleasant experience working during this stressful time.  Take it from my years of painting San Diego, doing these few steps will help you greatly.
