Rich Girl: Incredibly gentle time filler in reference to “meager little opulent gal” Schoelen leaving her life of comfort in her daddy’s Bel-Air mansion and trying to make it on her own, ultimately hooking up with a blue-collar stone singer. Cast includes Jill Schoelen, Don Michael Paul, Sean Kanan, Ron Karabatsos, and Paul Gleason. (96 minutes, 1991)
Plenty: Reproduction on screen of David Hare’s play regarding a British female who (like Britain itself) experiences her finest hours throughout WW2, performing for the underground, and on no account finds contentment or delight the remainder of her life. Excellent acting, and minutes of insight and humor could’t conquer the boring personality of Streep’s character. Schepisi makes phenomenal use of widescreen. Cast includes Meryl Streep, Charles Dance, Tracey Ullman, John Gielgud, Sting, Ian McKellen, Sam Neill, and Burt Kwouk. (124 minutes, 1985)
Dawn Of The Dead: An unknown plague has drastically reduced the planets population. However, the dead aren’t dying, they are becoming flesh eating zombies. The few survivors band together and fight for their lives.
8 Percent Women: While a triumphant businessman is widowed, his child tries to help him through his misery by taking him on a sensual odyssey. The females range from a prior nun Collette to a horsewoman/pig fancier Plummer who wears a weird see through harness. Copious man and lady nudity couldn?t keep this from being a massive bore. Cast includes John Sitting, Matthew Delamere, Vivian Wu, Shizuka lnoh, Barbara Sarafian, Manna Fujiwara, and Polly Stroller.(121 minutes, 1999)
The Reward: Pledging premise and excellent cast led awry in static Western: group of reward hunters turn on each other, as greed for bigger share of prize money motivates them into clash. Cast includes Max von Sydow, Yvette Mimieux, Efrem Zimbalist, Gilbert Roland, Emilio Fernandez, Henry Silva, and Rodolfo Acosta. (92 minutes, 1965)
Act of the Heart: A religion based film that deals with religion and people who become obsessed with it. A young lady falls in love with a priest in the Catholic Church with obvious difficulties to follow. Stars include Genevieve Bujold, Donald Sutherland, Bill Mitchell, and Monique Leyrac. (1970 Canadian-drama directed by Paul Almond)
It Takes 2: Surprisingly well-wrought comedy for babies in reference to look-alikes who trade places in request to help each other. The fabulously prosperous gal has a dad who’s getting ready to wed a patently terrible lady, when the orphan is getting ready to lose her best buddy, the communal employee who watches the orphanage. The doubles give extremely likable performances, as do their adult costars. Cast includes Kirstie Alley, Steve Guttenberg, Mary-Kate Olsen, Ashley Olsen, Philip Bosco, Desmond Roberts, Ernie Grunwald, and Lawrence Dane. (101 minutes, 1995)
Blind Date: Tiresome retread of all-too familiar farcical material by Blake Edwards. Yuppie Willis takes Basinger out on a pre arranged first time encounter, urged that she couldn?t allow alcohol-and instantly gives her champagne. This film is hilarious. This was Willis’ featuring debut; guitarist Stanley Jordan makes a lyrical appearance. Cast includes Kim Basinger, Bruce Willis, John Larroquette, William Daniels, and Graham Stark. (93 minutes, 1987)
From Mao to Mozart: Moving documentary in regards to violinist Serious 1979 journey of China. Most memorably, he mentors gifted Chinese scholars, supporting them to feel their playing. Shuzhen, deputy head of the Shanghai Conservatory of Music, explains his imprisonment throughout the Cultural Rebellion. This film deservedly won Best Documentary Academy Prize. Cast includes David Golub, and Tan Shuzhen. (84 minutes, 1980)
